BTM Back Up To Championship Section!

BTM Band

Happy New Year to all of our supporters!

We are delighted to officially be graded in Championship Section again from 1 January, having last been in the "top section" ten years ago (2015) before a period of re-building took place.

The band was an ever-present fixture of Welsh banding's Championship Section since its initial promotion in 1985, and gained 13 podium places in that time including two wins (3rd x4, 2nd x7, 1st x2 - 1991 & 1993). BTM has qualified to represent Wales at the Championship Section National Finals a total of ten times too: the first in 1988, the last 17 years ago (2008).

Last night was the band's first rehearsal back after Christmas, where we knuckled down to begin working on our Welsh Open Brass Band Entertainment Championship programme as well as the test-piece "Diversions" (Bourgeois), the set test-piece for our Welsh Regional Championships appearance in March.

We are looking forward to 2025, in what will be a continuation of the re-building process that began ten years ago. There's been a big focus on long-term sustainability in that time, and we're delighted that several of our current players have come up through our youth system BTM Band: Next Generation (with lots of others now performing with other bands in the region & further afield).

Our first engagement of 2025 is on 19 January, where we'll be performing at St. Michael & All Angels Church, Lower Machen on behalf of the Motor Neurone Disease Association - South East Wales Branch - we'll publish more information about this concert in the next couple of days.

The band's diary for this year is filling up with a mixture of concerts, competitions and community events, so we look forward to seeing you somewhere soon!
